Once you've got a PADI Divemaster certification under your belt, the next step up the PADI career development ladder is the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), and the PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of your IDC (along with the EFR Instructor Course described above).
Not only will you gain additional experience as a PADI Professional, you'll also start learning the PADI System of Diver Education in preparation for teaching others the skills they need to be successful divers!

- Teach academic presentations (under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor)

The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is your final step in the quest to become a PADI Instructor. The OWSI is the second portion of your Instructor Diver Course (the PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion).
